About Me
I’m a person like many others. I’m in my young 30s, have a great wife, two great kids, and two dogs. We all live in the suburbs of Montreal.
Like many people, I have ambitions and I’m an experimenter. I’ve started and closed several businesses, played with real estate, the stock market, venture capital, and countless other financial adventures. I’ve read all the books and bloggers I’ve been sucked in and spit out, and I finally feel like I’m seeing how the reality of things could work for normal people.
I’ve been through lots of normal people things, like paying for university with a McDonald’s job. Quitting a job to create a business, failing, then looking for work again. I have friends who fell into oil money or became investment bankers, and I have friends who became janitors and fruit stockers at the grocery store. I hang with all of them.
I’m not is a peak performer. I’m no Warren Buffett, Matt Damon, Michael Dell, Bill Gates, Paris Hilton, or anyone else who is so far removed from the normal people that they almost have nothing relevant to say to us. Their words and example are gold, but most of us can’t relate or imagine how to apply their wisdom to ourselves.
My zone is Intermediate. I was a beginner, passed through the average stage and am able to see some things that work and many things that don’t. There are tons of generic, theoretical morsels advice or systems that are tough to apply. It all seems good, but some of it is junk, and some of it needs to be twisted just a bit, and some of it is great. I wasted a lot of time trying to figure out what was right.
I’d like to write about my experiences and thoughts and opinions about some of these topics. As a guy who has been there, tried it, and made it work or failed.
